What to do

Central Valencia has many grand placas (squares) and baroque buildings. The Moors and Visigoths have also left their influences behind on the city’s character. The Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas, with its extravagantly sculptured facade and interior, is a key attraction in the city center. The Basílica de la Virgen de los Desamparados is also worth a vist.

The museums in Valencia reveal the area's history that dates back to Roman times. The Museo de Bellas Artes (including works by many of Spain’s finest painters), Instituto Valenciano Arte Moderno, Museu Taurino (dedicated to bullfighting), and the modern, futuristic entertainment complex of the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (arts and sciences) are all really good.

The city is also rich in botanical gardens and parks for a leisure day out. For shopping, try some of the numerous boutiques and trendy little stores selling everything you can imagine.
