What to do
Nice has a fine collection of museums, and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is one of the better ones. Glass walkways connect the four marble-coated towers, on top of which is a splendid rooftop garden.
There are many Baroque churches, including: the Saint-Martin-Saint-Augustin (the oldest church in Nice) and the Cathédrale Sainte Réparate, which is in the area's central square and has an 18th century steeple. The most exotic is the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, in a park setting with its six onion domes and mix of grey marble, brightly coloured ceramic and red brick.
Along rue Masséna, place Magenta, avenue Jean-Médecin, rue de Verdun and rue Paradis are some of the best streets for shopping. The local antiques market is also a favorite and is held Tuesday through Saturday, overflowing on the streets of Vieux Nice.
Along the French Riviera in Nice is where you'll find the nightlife. There are also many bars located in the old town.
