What to do
For history buffs, there is plenty to see in the city. At the Larnaca Fort, you can find the Medieval museum. Nearby are the Pierides Foundation and Archaeological museums. There’s also a good cultural center with modern entertainment.
There are several beaches available to soak up some sun, enjoy a cool drink from a waterfront bar, or do some water activities. The white sandy beaches are the biggest draw card, and one look at the crystal, clear waters will tell you why.
Also of interest is the Salt Lake, and the Camel amusement park. Beside lake is the Hala Sultan Tekke, built to honor the aunt of the Prophet Mohammed.
Also near to Larnaca is Angeloktisti Church, which has rare 6th century Byzantine mosaics. Stavrovouni, one of the oldest and most dramatically sited monasteries in Cyprus, is not far away.

Outside the city of Lemesos, the restored Kolossi Castle towers over a landscape of vineyards. Another must-see city if you have a hire car is Paphos. There are many fascinating historic sites in Paphos, including the ruins of Saranta Kolones.
