The isolation of Rai Leh beach has helped preserve it against tourist development. Cut off from the mainland by towering karst cliffs, it can only be reached by boat. It too is busy and popular with rock climbers. But many are content to unwind on the beach and admire the view.
What to see – by car hire

The shell fossil cemetery is a bizarre coastal landscape formed over the past 75 million years. Make sure you hire a car to see this wonder of nature, you will be reaching for your camera endlessly.
Another attraction easy to reach by hire car is the Buddhist temple of Wat Tham Suea. Unusually it sits in an overhanging cave beneath a karst butt. An exhausting climb to the chedi on top reveals excellent views.
