Cancun holiday travel
Since Cancun is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico, the city has many attractions. One of the main lures to Cancun is the fantastic beaches. But if you get tired of sunbathing, there are many other fun things to do in the city.
Where to stay - hotels
Being a tourist hot spot, Cancun has more than enough hotels to go around. All sorts of accommodations are provided at all different price ranges. Some luxurious resort spas charge quite a bit for a room, but other simpler hotels are fairly inexpensive. Find a Cancun hotel to suit your budget here.
Beachside hotels are plentiful as well as many four and five star hotels. Whether you prefer to stay in a villa, inn, motel, resort, or hotel, Cancun has it all. You can search online to see what amenities are offered by hotels in Cancun.
Many of Cancun’s hotels are located next to the beach, but there are also numerous hotels downtown and near the airport. Find a Cancun based hotel at your choice location online.
What to do
There are many attractions in Cancun. An interesting place to start is the Museo Arqueológico de Cancún, which is compact in size but filled with relics from archaeological sites around the state.
The city’s small bullring, Plaza de Toros, where bullfights take place every Wednesday during the winter tourist season is a favorite stop for tourists. If you're looking for a great view of Cancun, go to the top of the La Torre Cancún, a rotating tower at El Embarcadero park and entertainment complex.
Cancun’s main draw card is its tropical beaches, and the public beaches of Playa Tortugas, and Chacmool are some of the best ones. They also have good tourist amenities. Alternatively, south of Chacmool are the serene beaches of Playa Marlin and Playa Delfines.
What to see - by car hire
It’s definitely worthwhile to hire a car in Cancun and travel outside of the busy city. There are many attractions nearby that are easily reached by hire car. You can reserve a Cancun car hire online here.
A couple of options outside the city include checking out some archaeological ruins or an ecological theme park. The Mayan ruins to the south at Tulum or Cobá are a great starting point. Then you can drive by hire car to the caleta (cove) of Xel-Ha and the ecological theme park Xcaret.
There’s also the more traditional resorts of Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen, and Cozumel. Isla Mujeres is just 8 kms by hire car off the coast of Cancun and makes a great day trip. Good deals on hire cars in Cancun here.
