No trip to Blackpool is complete without a visit to the fun fair. Blackpool’s most awesome ride is ‘The Big One’. This ultra high big dipper is clearly visible on the approach roads to Blackpool.

The Sandcastle is an indoor water theme park with tropical weather all year round and fantastic wave machines. Other popular attractions include the Sea Life Centre, Tussauds waxwork museum and Blackpool Tower.

The Winter Gardens was originally built in the Victorian period. These days it has a host of entertainments inside its doors; including ballroom dancing and regular music performances.

Blackpool is a great night life destination with clubs to suit all types. There are also a wide range of cuisines; dine American style or visit one of a number of high quality A la carte restaurants.

What to see – by car hire

Hire a car at Blackpool and visit the Lake District. An hour or so up the M6 brings you to some of the UK’s most treasured scenery. The Lake District is a network of lakes, the most popular being Lake Windermere and nearby is the town Bowness.

Maybe not as popular but certainly worth hiring a car for is a trip through the Ribble Valley passing through green moorlands and old market towns such as Clitheroe. The town has an 800 year old castle keep that overlooks the town.

Clitheroe also borders the Trough of Bowland which is a popular spot for hill walkers and outdoor lovers in general.
